In the field of sports for the disabled, badminton is a representative sport that receives much attention as an elite sports event as well as a daily sports.

However, in the case of badminton rackets, which can be said to be the core of badminton events, there were many restrictions on the use of people with disabilities with various individual characteristics and functional deviations.

In particular, if it is difficult to hold a badminton racket due to functional limitations of the hand, it not only restricts smooth participation in daily sports, but also acts as a factor that negatively affects performance in professional sports

 

장애인 스포츠 영역에서 배드민턴은 전문체육과 생활체육을 가리지 않고 많은 인기를 얻고 있는 대표적인 스포츠 종목이다.

배드민턴은 라켓을 사용하는 종목인만큼 라켓 장비가 핵심적인 역할을 한다고 할 수 있다. 하지만 다양한 개별적 특성과 신체 기능을 보유한 장애인들의 경우 개인별 편차로 인해 기존 배드민턴 라켓을 사용하는 데에 어려움을 겪기도 한다.

특히 손 부위의 기능적 제약으로 인해 배드민턴 라켓을 파지하는 데에 어려움이 있는 경우 생활체육 대상자라면 배드민턴 활동 참여에 제약을 경험하게 되고 전문체육 선수라면 최대 퍼포먼스 발휘에 부정적인 영향을 받게 된다.

따라서 개개인의 손 기능과 특성을 고려한 형태로 개인맞춤형 배드민턴 라켓 그립을 제작한다면 더욱 많은 장애인 대상자들이 생활체육에 참여할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 장애인 전문체육 선수들의 경기력 향상에도 긍정적으로 기여할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.
